About US
Forbes Bland Home Modification & Maintenance Service Inc. empowers individuals to maintain independence and safety within their homes.
Operating from 7 Harold Street, Forbes, NSW 2871, our not for profit organisation specialises in tailored home modification and maintenance solutions for frail-aged persons and people living with disability. We recognise the importance of a safe living environment and strive to adapt residences to accommodate changing needs, enabling clients to remain in familiar surroundings for as long as possible.
The organisation is governed by a number of experienced volunteer Board members residing in the Forbes and Bland Shire, where the service originated.

Our Mission
Safety & Independence: To design and implement home modifications that minimize fall risks, enhance mobility, and promote self-sufficiency.
Client-Centered Approach: To collaborate closely with each individual, their carers, and allied health professionals, ensuring that every solution is personalized to the client’s unique circumstances. This also includes a Consumer Advisory Body. If you are interested in attending a Consumer Advisory meeting you are welcome to obtain more information by contacting the office.
Community Well-Being: To support the broader community by reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and aged-care placements, thereby fostering a more inclusive and accessible local environment.

Home Modification Assessments
Comprehensive on-site evaluations to identify potential hazards, accessibility barriers, and ergonomic needs.
Collaboration with occupational therapists to develop evidence-based modification plans to meet your requirements.
- All work covered by Home warranty Insurance through HBCF – Home Building Compensation Fund.
Structural Alterations & Installations
Ramp construction (portable and permanent) for safe ingress and egress.
Grab rails, handrails, and stairlift installations to support mobility and transfer needs.
Doorway widening, threshold adjustments, and bathroom modifications (e.g., rollover showers, accessible vanities).
Kitchen adaptations such as lowered bench heights, accessible cabinetry, and lever-style fittings.
Maintenance & Repairs
Ongoing upkeep of existing modifications to ensure continued functionality and compliance with safety standards.
General home maintenance (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical) to address fixtures that may pose a risk to frail or disabled individuals.
Funding & Registration
Forbes Bland Home Modification & Maintenance Service Inc is registered with—and authorized to deliver services under—several government funding programs and insurance schemes. Our registrations and affiliations include:
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP): Through My Aged Care, and approved to provide subsidised home modification services to eligible clients. For more information visit – https://www.myagedcare.gov.au
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA): Accredited to coordinate modifications under the Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) and Supported Accommodation Assistance (SAA) programs. For more information visit – https://www.dva.gov.au

We schedule an on-site visit for detailed assessment while adhering to COVID-safe protocols.
A qualified occupational therapist or home modification specialist conducts a thorough home audit.
Detailed proposal outlining recommended modifications, cost estimates, funding pathways, and expected timelines is provided.
Our intake officers assist clients in navigating CHSP, DVA, NDIS, or iCare claim processes, preparing necessary documentation to expedite approvals.
Local Licensed tradespeople carry out modifications to Australian Standards with minimal disruption, maintaining clear communication throughout.
All work is inspected upon completion to ensure compliance and functionality.
